Adidas have proved they’re not too big for their boots, quite literally, after stepping in to help an amateur player get back on the rugby pitch.
The brand were first to react after 22 year-old Carl Griffiths was forced to stop playing for local club Trimsaran RFC, because he couldn’t find a pair of boots for his size 21 feet.
After hearing the story, the Adidas design team got work, and last week Carl was treated to a surprise visit from Wales captain Sam Warburton, and two pairs of the latest Adidas Kakari boots – in size 21.
Adidas obviously have an impressive suite of elite athletes (including the likes of Gareth Bale, Lionel Messi, and of course Sam Warburton) who they provide kit for, so this is a good example of a big brand showing support for an athlete at a grassroots level, and using an ambassador appearance effectively to generate coverage.
