Mammut celebrates 150 years since the first ascent of the Matterhorn

Swiss mountaineering photographer, Robert Bösch, has spent the last few years shooting incredible scenes of skiiers, mountain guides and athletes showcasing Mammut’s range of outdoor clothing and equipment.

The images have been released to celebrate 150 years since the explorer, Edward Whymper, became the first person to ascend the Matterhorn – a14,692 ft high mountain in the Alps.

For the ‘hero shot’ of the collection, Bösch and his team of Mammut athletes illuminated the Matterhorn route with red lights and waited for night to fall. Working with the elements can be tough at the best of times, never mind when you’re half way up a mountain in the middle of the Alps, luckily their patience paid off and the final shot looks great.

You can view a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot here. The story has been picked up by The Guardian and MailOnline so far.
