General Mills Cereal has commissioned Saatchi and Saatchi New York to create an advert promoting Lucky Charms’ latest marketing stunt – the marshmallow only cereal box.
Lucky Charms fans have finally gotten what they have always wanted – a marshmallow only cereal box. But to make this unicorn food product more coveted General Mills have only created ten, and asked the public to share a selfie with the imaginary prize by the 18 October, using the hashtag #Lucky10sweepstakes to be in with the chance of winning one.
Saatchi and Saatchi New York created a video to promote the sweepstakes featuring rapper Biz Markie, which sees him sing a Lucky Charms version of his famous song ‘Just a Friend.
’ The psychedelic advert makes you feel like you’re in a candy version of Alice in Wonderland – weird but effective all the same.The social media entries have flooded in on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Lucky Charms have even animated a few of the selfies with a bit of Lucky Charm branding – neat tactic for encouraging more people to enter and share. Who knew people wanted marshmallows this bad?
